Chris Ottinger leads the global distribution strategy and operations for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.’s (MGM's) exceptional portfolio of television series, feature films and formats on a worldwide basis including overseeing the studio’s theatrical international distribution and sales group, transactional businesses, paid TV and the studio’s Channels business which operates the MGM SVOD channel, MGM HD.
MGM’s television roster of more than 20 series, seen on more than 70 international networks, includes the multiple award-winning series “The Handmaid’s Tale” (HULU), “Clarice” (CBS), “Fargo” (FX), and “Vikings” (HISTORY). MGM’s feature film slate is anchored by beloved film franchises such as the longest running film franchise Bond, “Rocky” and “The Hobbit” Trilogy, as well as “The Addams Family,” “Me Before You,” “The Magnificent Seven” and upcoming films including “Cyrano,” “House of Gucci,” and “Thirteen Lives.”
Ottinger leads the team responsible for the acquisition of new theatrical feature films on a worldwide basis. This catalog-building strategy is focused on acquiring wide release theatrical feature films overseas in key markets such as the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Latin America and the U.S., as well as multi-platform releases domestically. The team has successfully acquired films ranging from award-winning titles such as “Still Alice” and “The Hurt Locker” to wide releases like the “The Hateful Eight,” “Point Break” and “The Nice Guys.”
In 1994, Ottinger started his career in Business Affairs at MGM and re-joined the company in 2007 as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Television, after serving as Executive Vice President for Fox World and Fox Television Studios International. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Co-Production at Paramount and CBS.
Ottinger received a BA from the University of California San Diego, where he serves on the Alumni Board of Directors, and holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California.
